About Our Library

The goal of our library is to empower students to be life-long readers and leaders. We work to create a fun, supportive environment that inspires students to learn about themselves--what they like to read and what they want to explore independently.

Our librarian, Ms. Amy, works to have a diverse library collection that represents all students who attend our school. Our library also includes a very small archive about the Newton Collins family.

About Our Librarian, Ms. Amy

Meet Our Newton Collins Librarian, Amy Gonzalez ("Ms. Amy")

Ms. Amy has been a public educator for 21 years. She has been the librarian at Ojeda Middle School and at Del Valle High School. She loves being the librarian at Newton Collins because she enjoys sharing her love of literacy with all students and staff members. Her favorite books to read are science-fiction and fantasy books, and in her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, riding her bike, and playing video games.

Library hours:

Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 3:30 pm

We are currently not open for parent book checkout for students, but we hope to offer this service again in the future.

Library Book Policies:

Students can check out two books at a time for two weeks at a time.

Students will never pay a fine for turning a book in late.

If a book is lost or damaged beyond repair, the student will need to pay for the book or complete a reading log to "read off" their fine.

Austin Public Library

All students have an Austin Public Library card. If the APL card has been misplaced, parents or guardians can get their child's APL card information by contacting Austin Public Library Customer Service via email at circ.link@austintexas.gov or by phone at (512) 974-7475.
